“I feel happier just for being myself and letting others be themselves.”
— Carl Rogers
Rhonda Burton, LPC
Growing up in Oklahoma and raised as a Sooner naturally led me to Norman for my undergraduate degree. After receiving my degree in public relations from the University of Oklahoma, I moved to Wichita, Kansas to pursue a master’s degree in sports administration and counseling from Wichita State University. After a brief stop in Stillwater, my husband and I moved back to Norman where I obtained a second master’s degree in community counseling. While I serve individuals at many stages of life, my “heart” is working with children, adolescents, and young adults suffering with anxiety disorders.
Upon retirement from Norman Public Schools in 2021, I began working in private practice. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, and attending sporting events. I believe you can move toward a more peaceful and fulfilling life and I would be honored to provide you the space, perspective, and support to help make that a reality.

Approach
Each individual is on a different journey in life and the same should be true of the therapy process. No person or situation is the same and therapy requires individual focus and attention. Together, we will collaborate to create solutions for your own unique set of circumstances. This allows you to remain your own self-expert throughout the therapy process.
Using a kind, emphatic, and client-centered approach, I will provide support and facilitate positive change. While you are the expert on your life, sometimes it helps to get a non-biased, outside perspective to look at issues or possible roadblocks in a new way. We will build your treatment plan and goals together based on what you want and will make adjustments along the way as necessary.
