Children

It can be hard watching your child struggle, especially when you don’t know how to help them. It can make your world feel like it’s falling apart. My role is to help understand and gain some insight into what is causing the struggles while walking alongside you and your child toward finding solutions and ultimately healing. My goal is to provide your child with a safe place to express and process their “big feelings”, find their voice, and navigate difficult seasons. I achieve this through the use of play, art, and other creative activities when working with children as much as possible. It is during these times that children can hopefully begin to heal.

Clinical Focus: Anxiety, Depression, Bullying, Self-Esteem, Grief and Loss, Behavioral Issues, Trauma, Parenting Consultation, School Consultation, 504 and IDEA Consultation

Adolescents

During adolescence, teens are learning how to navigate the world outside of the home. Though they still need their parents’ support, they gravitate toward developing relationships with their peers and fitting in with these peers, not to mention social media and many outside school activities. When they don’t have healthy ways of dealing with these possible life stressors, they can fall into unhealthy relationships and patterns that when go unnoticed or uninterrupted can lead to more pain and suffering throughout their life. My ultimate goal for each teen I work with is to have a healthy sense of self and for them to have a reliable list of coping skills for when their life deals them disappointment or becomes too overwhelming.

Young Adults

Young adulthood brings a unique set of challenges that may inspire growth and resiliency if approached in a healthy, informed way. During this phase of life, you transition from student to professional and your expectations of yourselves may also transition.

Young adults may feel the pressure of making decisions about the rest of their lives and these pressures can leave you feeling excited, stressed, happy, confused, fearful, stuck, and overwhelmed. This can lead to unhealthy coping skills and poor habits. I believe that everyone can find joy and meaning in their lives. It can take time and practice to create coping skills and more positive habits, but everyone has the ability to get there. My work focuses on finding clients’ strengths and building on those. Clients are in different phases of healing and  I offer a safe and non-judgemental place for this personal growth. Some clients prefer concrete goals and homework while others need a more spontaneous approach. I will cater sessions to what will most benefit the individual client.
